Vratsa
 

VratsaVratsa is the largest town in Northwestern Bulgaria. It is situated along the two banks of Leva River, in the northern foots of the awesome Vrachanski Balkan. The town is 116 km north of the capital Sofia, 41 km south-east of Montana, 74 km south of Oryahovo and 57 km north-west of the town of Botevgrad.

Vratsa is not only one of the most picturesque Bulgarian towns. Few Bulgarian cities have such a history passing through thousands of years.

Near the city is located the natural park "Vrachanski Balkan. On the park's territory is one of the most beautiful Bulgarian caves - "Ledenika". It is proclaimed for Natural sight and tourist object with international importance. The cave impress with great sizes, and during the winter grabs the visitor with its fine ice decoration, where from come its name. Due to its unique acoustics in the Great Hall symphonic concerts take place.

The mountains and forests in the area are suitable for the development of different tourism types - hunting and fishing, skiing, speleological, delta-gliding, photo-tourism, etc.
Good opportunities exist for exercising different sport activities such as mountaineering, bicycle sport and for those who enjoy being thrilled can go for delta and par planer.

The area has very variousand lovablenatural features, which together with the recreation opportunities gives the special charm of the Eastern part of the Northwest Bulgaria.
